New Testament

  • The Four Gospels give us a four accounts of the one Gospel of Jesus Christ. In his Gospel account, Matthew writes to testify to who Jesus is and to explain what he does. Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah who fulfills God’s promises from the Old Testament by ushering in the Kingdom of Heaven. Go Deeper.

  • Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels, and his account moves quickly from the life of Jesus to his work on the cross. In this Gospel, Mark sets forth two key truths: who Jesus is and what it means to follow him. Go Deeper.

  • In 1:4, Luke states his purpose in writing the Gospel: “that you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.” He desires Theophilus’s faith—and by extension, the faith of all his readers—will be strengthened by the assurance of the historical reality of the life, teaching, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.   • The Apostle John wrote the Fourth Gospel. He outlines his purpose in writing about Jesus: “these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). He writes so that people would believe in Jesus Christ and find true life in his name. Go Deeper.

  • In Acts, Luke describes the spread of the good news of Jesus Christ from Jerusalem to the world. The Gospel is Luke’s account of Jesus’s ministry while he was on earth, and Acts is the narrative of Jesus’s ministry after his ascension to heaven.
