On Sundays, we are studying chapters 13-17 of the Gospel according to John in a series we’re calling the “Long Goodbye.”

Jesus spends his final few hours before his betrayal instructing his disciples on what life will be like on the other side of the cross. These chapters of John, known as the farewell, discourse unpack how Jesus calls those who believe in him to live in light of his resurrection.

As the Gospel of John continues, Jesus’s conflict with the religious leaders of his day continues to escalate. These next two chapters lead Jesus and his disciples to Jerusalem where he will be crucified. The rest of the Gospel will focus on the events immediately surrounding his death and resurrection, but here in John 11-12 we see more and more clearly who Jesus is and what he has come to do.
