Hope for All
The hope of the gospel is for all people. As gospel people, this hope should overflow from us into serving those around us in Jesus’s name.
Paul’s call in Romans 15:7 to welcome one another is grounded in Christ’s welcoming all kinds of people for the glory of God. In the Roman church, one particular challenge was the division between believers from a Jewish background and those from a Gentile background. In these verses, Paul unpacks how God’s plan had always been for the Messiah the Savior for all peoples, including both Jews and Gentiles.
Today, this is good news for those of us who live at the ends of the earth. Christ welcomes us into the life and love of God. It is also a reminder that the hope of Christ should lead us toward gospel hospitality. We open our lives to all kinds of people in order to share with them the hope of the gospel.
